A tasty one-pot or one-pan wonder is loved by all. They simplify cleanup! Paradoxically, these recipes are also often among the easiest and most delicious to prepare. I believe this is why chili was created! However, one pan meals like this creamy chicken and rice or One Pot Pasta can easily be prepared. Yes, that is accurate! Not to mention, when you cook a variety of items together, they combine and create a taste explosion! In addition, this recipe is a little unique! This meal tastes great with my Skillet Green Beans or a simple green salad. However, you can also add frozen peas and carrots to the skillet at the end or mix in some fresh baby spinach to make it a complete dinner.

The Ingredients you’ll need

  • Chicken: I used skin-and boneless chicken breasts. If preferred, you may also use skinless, boneless chicken thighs.
  • Butter: Unless specified otherwise in the recipe, always use unsalted butter.
  • Garlic: Mince your own fresh garlic cloves for maximum flavor. There are instances when jarred garlic tastes harsh.
  • Spices: The chicken is seasoned with onion powder, garlic powder, and sweet paprika prior to cooking. The chicken is seasoned with onion powder, garlic powder, and sweet paprika prior to cooking.
  • Onions: The finest option is a brown onion. However, you can use whichever kind of onion you happen to have on hand.
  • Long Grain Rice: My rice was jasmine. While short-grain, brown, or wild rice can be used, basmati or standard long-grain rice will work just well.
  • Italian seasoning: Usually, a mixture of dried marjoram, thyme, rosemary, oregano, and basil is used. Use a combination of items from your pantry if you don’t have any on hand.
  • Seasonings: The dish has to be seasoned with salt and black pepper.
  • Chicken Broth: I always use chicken broth with low sodium content to minimize the quantity of salt I use.
  • Heavy Cream: Gives the rice its creamy texture and adds richness.
  • Parsley: Used to garnish the dish and add a fresh finish.
  • Parmesan Cheese: Adds cheesiness and deliciousness to the dish. The best cheese to use is freshly grated parmesan; cheddar cheese works well too.

How to make creamy chicken and rice

This 30-minute dish is a one-pan marvel that’s easy to create! When it comes to cooking the rice, just remember to follow the instructions, and the dish will come out perfectly!

  1. Season the chicken: To start, use paper towels to pat the chicken breast pieces dry and eliminate any extra moisture. Then, add the onion, garlic, and sweet paprika powders to them. The chicken should then be put aside for a later phase.
  2. Sauté the onions and garlic: Once the chicken has been seasoned, you may begin frying the garlic and onions. First, in a big skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Next, add the onions to the pan and sauté them until they become tender and translucent, which should take around 3 minutes. Add the minced garlic after that, and simmer for a further 30 seconds or so, or until the mixture becomes aromatic.
  3. Cook the chicken: Then, add the reserved chicken to the hot skillet. After that, cook the chicken for about 5 minutes, or until it is no longer pink, stirring everything together. Try your best to brown the chicken pieces on both sides for the most tasty dish.
  4. Add the rice and steam: After the chicken has browned, combine the uncooked rice, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, and a little pinch of salt and pepper for seasoning. Now increase the heat to medium-high and boil the rice mixture. After that, reduce the heat, put a lid on the skillet, and simmer the rice for fifteen minutes. Keep the lid on. It is not necessary to stir the rice, as stirring it will prevent it from steaming correctly.
  5. Finish the dish: Once the rice has cooked for fifteen minutes, take off the skillet’s top and mix in the parmesan cheese and heavy cream. Just give the rice a couple more minutes to absorb most of the heavy cream at this point. Once the food has been tasted, add extra salt and black pepper to taste. Lastly, sprinkle some fresh parsley on top of the creamy chicken and rice, and serve right away.
